TripIt Opps

So still not a replacement for Dopplr which simply rocks! In fairness I will continue to try throughout the year my big travel time begins in September and goes through to December so will have plenty of chances to play and see if it works.

Update: the rest of this content below did not seem to get published when I hit submit originally.

The one thing I do like about TripIt is that it really does seem to be an entire "travel management" setup but is that overkill? Many I know are like me and use our corporate travel services and receive our agendas all nicely packaged up for us. So does such a service have an audience with folks like me? Dopplr excels and the "connections" which is something I find huge value in, TripIt has that but it seems to be a secondary focus to me so can they do something well if it's secondary?

Or does it matter if I'm not their audience?

I've had much better luck with TripIt, but then again I'm sending it English only travel documents.

Although I use corp. travel as well, I often have a few parts and pieces that are in the central itinerary. Sometimes for events, the hotels are booked separate. Often for normal trips even, I will book the airline through corp. travel and the hotel through the hotel chain directly (or hotels.de).

Overall the value I see is more in the way the team I work with is using it. We are all sharing our itineraries for an upcoming event with all the details. We can then organize based upon flight arrival times who can share rides (and more importantly who is getting in early and wants to go to dinner). We are also sharing dinner meet up locations. I do like having all of this detail in the one place

Thomas I can see how it could be useful but if their focus is "English" only at the moment then it does not help me much where as Dopplr is providing me a much better service in comparison.

Perhaps TripIt will change but until then it's more dead way and way too much input for me.
