This is actually music to my ears, not too long back I moved my online Video library and book library over to Zoho Creator, I mean what better way to save a few pennies than with a hosted application as opposed to shelling out the cash for a domain that had (what I would hope is the latest...) PHP and MySQL or something like that.
Many of the people I know are developers or at least used to be developers, and of course many of us have or had our own domains and we would sit back and kick out programs left and right to do what we needed to do. Of course came the problems of versions, modules, etc. But you would fight through them because when you were done you would login take a 3 minute look at your work and then never use it again - OK that's not entirely true but the point was I for example was spending 60% more time building the app then I was using it, and the use I did I could have just as well done with a simple SQL form to type in the queries myself.
Thus I took a chance I moved over to Zoho Creator to see how well it would work for me - I kind of went nuts and really pushed the guys to come up with a roadmap, new features, etc.
Now with this little announcement,
We have noticed lately that more and more users are pushing the envelope, building larger applications, with a lot more data as well as meta-data (i.e number of tables/columns). Forms are getting bigger, picklists are growing, and people need a lot more sophistication in views. Scripts are getting more complex as well. All of these highlight the need for better performance, because larger applications stress the infrastructure more. These needs are driving our development lately. We have a series of updates planned in the next few weeks addressing easier form/view creation, more sophisticated views, easier scripting, high performance and more. Brand new hardware is also being commissioned as we speak.
I'm just tickled pink because that just means the apps I've created will run even better and faster and I will soon have more control and features!
Awesome!
